Happy Holidays my dear students!!!

Happy Holidays my dear students!!!

Not Only Christmas Day

Lord, this is my prayer
Not only on Christmas Day
But until I see You face to face
May I live my life this way:

Just like the baby Jesus
I ever hope to be,
Resting in Your loving arms
Trusting in Your sovereignty.

And like the growing Christ child
In wisdom daily learning,
May I ever seek to know You
With my mind and spirit yearning.

Like the Son so faithful
Let me follow in Your light,
Meek and bold, humble and strong
Not afraid to face the night.

Nor cowardly to suffer
And stand for truth alone,
Knowing that Your kingdom
Awaits my going home.

Not afraid to sacrifice
Though great may be the cost,
Mindful how You rescued me
From broken-hearted loss.

Like my risen Savior
The babe, the child, the Son,
May my life forever speak
Of who You are and all You’ve done.

So while this world rejoices
And celebrates Your birth,
I treasure You, the greatest gift
Unequaled in Your worth.

I long to hear the same words
That welcomed home Your Son,
“Come, good and faithful servant,”
Your Master says, “Well done.”

And may heaven welcome others
Who will join with me in praise
Because I lived for Jesus Christ
Not only Christmas Day

Dear Parents,

After having several conversations with parents about their concerns about the content of “The Outsiders”, I have decided to give an alternative novel for those who don’t feel comfortable about the original novel. The alternative novel is called “Number the Stars” by Lois Lowry. “Number the Stars” will also have a book report which will be turned in on the same day as “The Outsiders”. The due date is on Wednesday, January 18th, 2011. There will be no penalty for those who choose to read and complete the book report on “Number the Stars”, since the purpose of both book reports is for students to expand their literary knowledge and grow as readers. Those who have already begun reading and completing “The Outsiders” book report are free to continue. You have the decision to choose either one of the novels mentioned above. Each student is responsible of purchasing either one of the books. If you have any further questions or doubts, don’t hesitate in communicating with me.

** I decided to choose “The Outsiders” because even though, violence is mentioned, it has various positive outlooks like: education will help you get a better living, proper treatment towards females, human equality, etc. These positive topics will be discussed later on in class to clear the air.

Thanks to all!,

Help Me Thanksgiving Day Prayer

O God, when I have food,
help me to remember the hungry;
When I have work,
help me to remember the jobless;
When I have a home,
help me to remember those who have no home at all;
When I am without pain,
help me to remember those who suffer,
And remembering,
help me to destroy my complacency;
bestir my compassion,
and be concerned enough to help;
By word and deed,
those who cry out for what we take for granted.
Amen.
